The legalized, in violation of all environmental protection norms, after 12 years - the illegal dump continues to operate with virtually no proper sanitary and ecological requirements.
Local residents complain about the stench from the dump, about parasites, about the constant foul smoke from self-igniting piles of rags and waste due to methane.
There is a lack of drainage structures. The chain-link fence does nothing to prevent bags and trash from "moving" towards the houses. The problem worsens in the summer — the amount of garbage increases threefold, and the smell is simply unbearable. Both in winter and summer, we live in such a place where plastic bags are everywhere. When the wind blows and the weather is cloudy, all the trash from the dump is lifted into the air,” say local residents.

According to experts, the dump is a serious source of environmental pollution. In the depths of the garbage pile, decomposition processes occur, involving anaerobic bacteria. As a result of this process, toxic biological gas is released, one of the components of which is methane.
Deep soil contamination occurs, the foul air is carried by the wind over long distances, and if groundwater lies beneath the dump, it is practically poisoned by toxins. Thus, the nearest water bodies are toxic and dangerous for humans. The soil becomes unusable for several hundred years after the dump is closed. In fact, this dump serves not the villagers themselves, but the tourism industry with its hotels, restaurants, and guest houses. The number of tourism facilities in the village is increasing, which means that in a year or two, waste will again be dangerously close to farms and vacationers.
By legalizing a site that poses ecological and epidemic risks in the biosphere zone, next to people's homes, sheepfolds, and summer cottages, effectively depriving them of the opportunity to engage in tourism, breathe clean air, and devaluing their property - the government commission did not provide any compensation during the legalization of the dump.
The size of illegal dumps is increasing at a catastrophic rate. They are consuming fertile lands, leading to the death of local flora and fauna, expanding towards the nearest settlements, and poisoning people.
