Massive deforestation of plantations is taking place in the territory of the Chui Forestry in the Chui District (the "Yablonya" area, etc.) on leased plots, and economic activities are being conducted in areas where the forest has been destroyed. Industrial-scale excavation of pits for fish farming is being carried out, and the groundwater flow is being redirected, leading to further swampification of the territories, while the drainage of water from flooded areas is being disrupted. Floodplain forests are being massively destroyed. It is noteworthy that in the Chui Region, the processes of flooding are more widespread compared to other regions of the republic. Areas with groundwater depths of less than 3 meters cover a sublatitudinally elongated zone north of the Big Chui Canal and the Chaldybar-Tokmok highway, where many settlements and agricultural lands are located under unfavorable conditions.
In many places on the lands of the Chui Forestry, spontaneous dumps of household waste have been observed, often accompanied by frequent fires and self-ignition.
The Chui Forestry includes four forestry enterprises, including the city of Tokmok. These are branches in the villages of Ak-Beshim, Shamsy, and Kegety.
