A unique park of the cardiological sanatorium of Kyrgyzstan is being destroyed. Under the guise of deadwood and emergency trees, healthy trees are being cut down, including those that have a special environmental protection status in the country (juniper). Activists from the villages of Tash-Dobo and Baytik are asking to save the only unique sanatorium in the country known for its healing properties.
Without this recreational park, the sanatorium will lose its significance. Local residents are dissatisfied with what is happening. People are appealing to the authorities by all legal means to stop the logging, but to no avail. A living section of the park is being destroyed under the pretext of cutting down dead trees. It is possible that cubic meters of good wood for furniture making are being cut and removed under the guise of deadwood and emergency trees.
Of course, all this is happening with the consent of the management, activists believe. "This is where heart patients and hypertensives were treated. Physiotherapy, intensive walking. The air here is unique and healing. Then the directors of the sanatorium began to change every year and a half, and everything started to fall apart. Trees were quietly cut down in the park," says Aksuyun Kazakbaev.
But under the current director of the sanatorium, trees have started to be cut and removed openly. Local activists raised the alarm when they saw trucks with wood.
“The information quickly spread through the village. There is the internet, WhatsApp. Those who saw it say that they spend no more than two or three minutes on one tree. Porters, large trucks – we filmed everything on video,” continues Aksuyun Kazakbaev.
Some trees were not removed in time by the loggers. Huge logs remain lying in the middle of the park. The dry trees were indeed left untouched.
That the logging of trees is illegal has also been confirmed by the Ministry of Natural Resources of Kyrgyzstan.
“The head of the sanatorium contacted us with a letter and requested permission to carry out sanitary logging. I sent an inspector who marked the emergency trees. However, in addition to the emergency trees, he cut down healthy trees suitable for construction materials,” noted a representative of the Ministry of Natural Resources.
Now inspectors are measuring the diameter of the cut trees and calculating the damage to the ecology and the budget. After that, the materials will be handed over to law enforcement agencies. The director of the sanatorium, Ekeev Shamil, faces punishment under Article 288, part two.
REFERENCE: "Kyrgyzstan" is a cardiological sanatorium. It is located 26 kilometers from Bishkek. It was established on the basis of a recreation center that had been operating for many years for the rehabilitation of patients who have suffered a myocardial infarction. The initiator of the establishment of such a sanatorium is Academician M.M. Mirrakhimov. The sanatorium is located in a picturesque area, with a total area of 21 hectares. It operates year-round (160 beds). A department with 30 beds is organized for rehabilitation after myocardial infarction. The "Kyrgyzstan" sanatorium has everything necessary for diagnosing diseases and subsequent treatment of patients – a functional diagnostics room, a massage department, and a physiotherapy complex. It houses a famous hydrotherapy center with artificial oxygen, salt, and coniferous baths.
The sanatorium belongs to the Federation of Trade Unions of Kyrgyzstan, from which all budget employees in the country make contributions.
