Tree Cutting in the Suu-Bashi Gorge
Suu-Bashy Gorge. Deforestation (26 trunks of poplar and tal). "Suu Bashy (The Beginning of Water) is a natural complex consisting of a huge old poplar, springs, and a small pond with a diameter of 10-12 meters. Suu Bashy is located at the foot of the mountains, not far from the village of Kara-Bulak in the Batken region. The waters of Suu-Bashy are crystal clear, emerging from the surface, purified by underground stones. The poplar is so large that five people holding hands cannot encircle it. It is said to be over five hundred years old.
In this area, there are many burial sites known as "myktin körlörü" (burials of the myk). Batken residents interested in their history say that in some historical sources, this people is referred to as "mukhtar," while other experts believe these are the burials of "ancient Nukh, or Huns." The remains of a woman found in one of these graves are currently kept in the historical museum in Bishkek. The discovery of many traces of ancient burials here indicates that many people once lived in this area.
And if you ascend along the riverbed of Suu Bashy into the mountains, there are many sacred places."
