Kadzhi-Say Landfill: Pollution of Land, Water, and Air

77°11’29″E 42°9’10″N
According to experts, none of the hundreds of "official" landfills, not to mention the thousands of illegal dumps around Lake Issyk-Kul, can claim to fully comply with the required sanitary-ecological and any other standards. Here, animal carcasses are dumped, the landfill area is not fenced, and during rainfall and snowmelt, dirt seeps into the groundwater. Even with slight gusts of wind, plastic bags, clouds of dust, and dirt are carried far beyond the landfill. Waste from the second most populous city in the Issyk-Kul region is brought here daily.

Not to mention the illegal dumps, some of which are located less than 50 meters from the lake. They are not fenced, so the wind carries dirty bags and paper across the beach and into the villages, and they end up in the lake. Numerous violations have been identified: animal carcasses are dumped here, the area is unfenced, and during rainfall, dirt seeps into the groundwater. The landfills on the southern shore of Issyk-Kul are particularly in poor condition.
